Music Based Mental Health Supports
Music Based Grief and Loss Support
Some things in life cannot be fixed. Only carried.
Grief can be isolating. Community and shared-grief can be the antidote to that isolation. Our sessions will use the power of music to process and move through your youth’s feelings of grief.
In sessions, we will:
Share your grief story.
Process your grief through the power of music using the ukulele (no music experience needed; we will help you every step of the way!)
Learn the basics on how to play the ukulele (beginners welcome; ukuleles provided)
Create a customized song that helps you share your loss story or honors your loved one.
Quieting Anxiety through the Power of Music
Anxiety is an emotion we all feel; and sometimes learning the right tools can help quiet thoughts and feelings of anxiety that have gotten too loud!
In sessions we will:
Identify and explore thoughts and feelings of anxiety.
Use exposure and cognitive behavioral techniques and strategies to face anxiety.
Use music and the calming experience of the ukulele (no experience needed!) to strengthen our mental well-being.
Annie Loch is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a music teacher, who embeds art and music into her grief work and mental health services with youth, it is not music therapy, but cognitive behavioral therapy that uses the power of music to help process and practice skills.
