Read one of the scholarly papers below on the connection between positive youth development and music education. Consider the stages of development we studied earlier. Write a one-two page case study on one of your students, using initials as to keep their identity private, reflect on the following:

  • How did their stages of development show up in their behavior in their music lessons with you?

  • What area of Positive Youth Development did you see your student needing to develop the most?

  • How did your approach as a teacher build one area of positive youth development in this student?

  • What is one example of an approach you will change moving forward, after reflecting on youth development and it’s connection to music education?
