Welcome to the first annual Twin Cities Youth Ukulele Competition!

Open to all ukulele Players ages 6-18

Three categories of competition:

Beginner: 

• Can play the C major scale

• Can play F/C/G7/Am chords

• Can strum with finger or thumb

Intermediate:

• Can play all of the chords in the Key of C

• Can play and read notes from C - high A

• Can play and read sharps and flats

Advanced:

• Can play and read double stops

• Can play in multiple keys (Key of F/G/A/Dm)

• Can use percussive techniques in strumming

Participants will:

1. Have five minutes to perform two pieces.

   1. One must be fingerstyle from the list of songs provided. All songs can be found in Ukulele for Everyone! The Comprehensive Ukulele Method Series

   2. One can be a song of their choice, any genre from any source and they can sing along or play an additional finger style song.

2. Receive a t-shirt and feedback from the judge on their performance.

3. The top two scorers in each category will win a gift card!

4. The Top Scorer from each category will be invited to perform at the Great MN Uke Gathering (GMUG) on Nov 8th!

Costs: $30 per participants

Because the ukulele is nothing but JOY, alongside the competition there will be a bounce house, food truck, student voice and piano performances, yard games and faceprint!
